Burkhard Glaetzner (born 29 May ) is a German oboevirtuoso und conductor. He is one of the leading oboe players in Germany.

Life

Glaetzner was born in Poznań. His grandfather was the Goethe researcher Hermann August Korff&#;[de], who last taught in Leipzig. In the family moved to Falkenhain/Saxony and in to Leipzig.

In he received his first recorder lessons; two years later followed his first public appearance.

After moving to Berlin (East) in he attended the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach&#;[de] in the Rheinsberger Straße from to He changed to the oboe and received his first piano lessons.

After graduating from school in , he took up oboe studies with Hans Werner Wätzig at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin.

In /64 he won first prizes at the GDR University Competition for Wind Instruments. In he passed his state examination and became aspirant at the Berlin Academy of Music for
